Can anyone give me any info on cleaning bank drive-thru's. Just got follow up call on some "cold calls" I
made several months ago. V.P wants estimate on her
drive thru with possible five more if bid is approved.
Anyone care to inform on going price for drive-thru. This will be my first commercial account and I really want to land this one. Help me out, power washers.

Dirt Chaser,

You have to stick with the per square foot price, and price it accordingly to how much oil, grease, gum, etc. is in the drive thru lanes. 8 to 10 cents a square foot is a starting point. I always give quote on the parking spaces in front of building where majority of parking is done, and always the nastiest. I usually throw that in for 5-8 bucks a parking spot.

Gonna need high heat and great chemicals to remove the tire marks from the curbs in drive thrus and oil in lane.

Hope this helps.

Craig

P.S. Dont panic to get the account and shoot too low, you'll kick yourself and hate doing the account if your doing it for nothing.

What inf. do you want?

1. How to put together a presentation that would assure you would be doing the accounts.
2. How to write a proposal so that the VP will understand what your going to do for the money.
3. How many lanes, what’s the square feet?
4. What type of equipment are you planing to use?
5. Did you set a meeting with her when you deliver the estimate?
6. Have you given her a live demonstration?
7. Are you planing to wand or use a surface cleaner?
8. Will you do the sidewalks in the bank as well?
9. How about the windows after you pressure wash? If you don’t inform VP her windows will get spotted they get upset. Do you do windows?
10. How often does the customer want it done?
11. How much gum and dirt on surface now?
12. Will you have and initial clean up? Will you wave it if they give you multiple locations?

I can give you this advice, when you write the proposal include what they want and nothing more. The reason you do this is so the proposal is easy and clear. With no confusion the customer will be able to make a clear decision with out having to shuffle thru unwanted material. Remember simple and easy. On the flip side of the coin please do include and attachments of extra things such as building washes, sidewalks, windows ect. Very important to include prices for 15day service as well as 30,60,90-day maintenance packages. Other company’s may be biding and bring things up she did not think about. If this were to happen you would be in and unfair situation with your proposal. Remember keep the extras separate, people do get upset if you include extras when they did not ask for them. Craig has given you the price witch to me seemed fair. I how ever would not include the square footage in proposal. I would only use this as a tool for your personal information.

Explain to the VP why she should use you instead of the other company. Never badmouth your competitor, just talk about you strengths.

If you want any subject here in more detail just e-mail me.

I checked out the drive thru today. It is a "three laner" outside lane just ATM Machine, but the two inside lanes are enclosed in white brick walls and ceiling ( not the regular post style drive thru) with lots of dirt and spider webs on them. Drove to one of the other branches not as much brick work nor as dirty but need cleaning bad.
Couple of oil spots on pad. Figured 45.00 per lane but
would this be too low considering the brick walls. Haven't seen many built like this one except in maybe
Beverly Hills, California. Ha! Going to see V.P friday evening. Text

Hey Dirt Chaser

How familiar are you with the EPA regulations in Va.?
I have been in touch (a while back) with a S.Eastern banking Corp. official who was trying to save $$ on cleaning Va. location drive throughs.
He is getting hit with about $100.00 per drive through because the run off is being reclaimed. He said that a former PW Co. got in trouble because someone around Virginia Beach filed a complaint about that company not reclaiming the waist water.

I am sure you probably are thinking as I did that this EPA thing was way too off the wall especially when asphalt is an oil based product that emits oil that runs in to sewer systems - but since I don't have the 5 digit figure to get a reclaim set up - I am not doing it as of yet!

It's just food for thought!

Aran ,

I not picking on you specifically, I have heard about reclaiming issues and personally when I try to find them on specific states I have trouble. Know what your telling me is that in Virginia your water goes into a sanitary sewer system. I would like to know where the inf. is that tell you about reclaiming in your state. I don’t want federal guidelines I know them. My state has a clean water act bill that has been trying to pass since 1980 something that has not passed yet, Thank god. I have reclaiming equipment I don’t use much. I do know competitors that scare customers into thinking they need to reclaim the water because they misinterpret federal standards. I simply just want to know a reference in witch you have found information beside federal EPA standards. I know there are states that have strict laws on ground water contamination. I have read Washington’s proposal for revised laws and Oregon’s as well. I would assume you could e-mail the site of send to information you have since you must have it since you live in that state

Hey Ron!

The man who told me this had made the point to contact me about cleaning their banks in Virginia. This particular gent is VP in charge of something or another for a 5 state wide banking corp.
I can only assume that he has no reason to lie to me about this. First hand - I can't say squat!
I do know he approached me trying to find away to do this for under $100.00 per drive through.

Hey Guys,,, just a footnote here In some cases these state, county agencies that you contact re reclamation are answering your questions to the "T".

If you "have" to deal with EPA issues be sure to go into extreme detail of what you are doing. I found that in my area I do not need to reclaim "any" of my commercial accounts i merely need to block the contaminated water from going into the storm sewers, and any contaminated water can be dispersed onto the earth where it would be allowed to perculate back into the aquifer, they claimed this would be adequate to clean the water before reentry into the aquifer. I said "ok could you give me that in writing". Thus now I have a nice little letter in my file for my customers that are concerned!

In other words, always look for an alternative when you're dealing with these agencies. I'm guessin that often they aren't too sure either and will just tell you to do the extreme to cover their asses. Talk to them, educate them and hash something out that will work for both of you!
(remember that by swinging them to your side puts $$ in your pocket, so they are a customer SELL EM!!!)
