Hello again, upon researching what I wanted my insurance to cover one thing stood out.

"Restaurant Hood and Duct Cleaning - with completed certification"

IKECA provides a certification for this for like 1500.00 just to take the test.. Is it worth it ? I do plan on doing this type of work but is there any other organization that can certify you ? Anyway to do it cheaper ?

There is not anyone that is "certified" to certify YOU. Just about anyone can certify you technically. It is in NFPA but NFPA forgot one BIG thing.... WHO certifies? Any Joe Blow can setup a certifying school and "certify" you.

Ask yourself this:
If company "A" is going to certify you for $1000, who gives them the authority to certify ANYONE? And if they were a truly responsible/professional/caring company, what type of system do they have to ensure that a company they certified is doing certifiable work in the field?

I've seen unacceptable certified work; believe it or not.

OJT is the way to learn. I have found that schools generally are only for getting you ready for the real school which is OJT.
