Ok so I have found a deck that is testing my nerves and patience. a 18x16 deck no spindles but a wrap around bench on the lowest railing that has a red solid (NOW PINK) BEHR. I applied HD80 at full strength dwell time of 30 minutes and it didn't even phase this crap! Some came off but left patches of areas that just are stubborn. So I tried letting the stripper dwell long for 45 minutes, and NOTHING! I am working on getting the booster for the HD80 as I was told it would help, But for now I have resorted to a Belt Sander with 50 grit then finishing it up with 80 grit. This is just the floor area and I had to call it quits today, any suggestions for the outside railings? I am a few nerves away from removing each board and Plaining them down 1/32nd of an inch to remove this. I've encountered stubborn behr before but NEVER like this! Anyone have suggestions

This is probably their silicone sealer. Supposed to last for 7 or 10 years. lol Good luck. I have encountered one of these decks (so far) and I told the customer that I would get as much off as possible, but that they would most likely have to re-apply the same stuff

I agree with John......... get as much off and stain it back to that color............or take the boards off and instead of plaining `em just flop in over............

There is a paint remover that works on this chit.....it is very harsh to use but works well............check your paint supply co.

wear proper clothing !!

It's probably going to take a strong paint stripper. There are some gels & paints that may help. Brush on heavy layer of product, mist, cover with plastic & let sit overnight. You'll likely still not get all of it off though.

I got caught with one of these ONCE! I did a test spot in a sunny area, which stripped fairly well with conventional stripper. When I started on the project, however, the shaded areas & spindles would not budge. I did the above mentioned process, which helped, but still ended up doing some sanding & recovered the spindles with solid color stain. Customer was satisfied, but loss my A**!

My question to you is how did you end up in this situation? Don't you view the decks before you bid the job? Do you do a test area to check for strippability? It makes no sense to me to offer a bid without doing both. There's always variables that will impact your pricing, especially with deck work. Good Luck!

I got caught much the same way you did, I carry a 2 gallon pump spray with hd80 and did a small test in the corner about 1ft square and it came off pretty good, but after bid and started the job and applying the whole deck, NOT SO GOOD. I think next time I'm going to do a whole board and see the results from here on out.. catch me once, your fault, catch me twice-----MINE!!
