Bidding jobs via Intesource website

We're currently bidding on a multi state flat work job for the Meijer stores. Meijer invites vendors to bid on jobs via a Intesource website. The bid process goes live and you have an opportunity to view your bid along side the lowest bid (prices only, no names are given)

Everyone has 15 minutes to either rebid or hold your price. It's concept is cool, however I thought for sure I was on candid camera this morning when the bid went live and we saw the lowest bid to clean the gas station, the trash compactor INSIDE and out and the front walkway for the low, low price of $223.00.

The look on our faces had to have been priceless!

It gets even better....for the next hour the prices went LOWER and LOWER to stop at a bargin bottom price of $88 for all that cleaning.

Has anyone had experience in bidding through Intesource or were we really in the twilight zone?

I haven't seen any bidding sites like that yet, but I would be leary if it was Meijers that put the low bid in to get everyone to drop their prices. No one could possably travel between states, do all that work and make ANY money at $88. Your gas alone would cost more than that!

I dont think id get out of bed to go do that job for $223 let alone $88.

Many big companies are using this method to get the lowest prices. Companies like blandly, CVs, Albertsons and Frys the Companies who win the bid then subcontract with local companies to d the job. We were just bidding on the Kroger food stores where the bid started 175 and I dropped wt at 65.0
