Brick Pavers

Hello,

I've been asked to quote a job cleaning a brick sidewalk. (have not done this before) sidewalk was removed to do some underground utility work and the construction co. must replace as it was before the job started.

I did a search on brick pavers and got a little info. can you guys/gals give any pointers on potential problems and how to treat the joints? (I think they are sand)

Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Shawn @ Pressure-Tek

Shawn,

Couple of things.
If possible, contact the brick contracters and find out what type of brick they are laying. Find out who the manufactor is, contact them for cleaning recomendations.

Also, I found a lot of info on the search forum.
Click on the magnifying glass at the top of this page, after reaching the search forum, type brick and enter the powerwashing forum. There you will find several places to research. I found a lot of helpful info in the Brickmasters section.

Hope this Helps.

Depending on what's between the cracks, cleaning these things can be a real mess. Sometimes worse then others.

Like Richard said, try the search function.......

I don't know what anyone else thinks about it, but what about a turbo nozzle? Usually the spinning motion cuts down on the amount of dirt and stuff getting thrown around.

What are they dirty with??

Short & sweet.

I've do a lot of brick pavers and you want to watch out for blowing out the setting sand between the bricks and damaging the bricks. Watch your tip size, NO 0 degrees and no spinners either, just a good fan. Pavers by definition are solid / hard fired bricks which make them an easy clean, however like the others say do your research about the brand used. Some bricks are coming out of Mexico, not hard fired bricks which makes them softer and more easily damaged.

Thanks for the responses so far !!

Mike - Mostly just dirt. Contractor is reinstalling
the same bricks that he removed to dig his trench.

Richard - Thanks, I tried the search before, but forgot to change to "powerwashing" section. much more info now that I did it right. (i think i checked the "carpet cleaning" section first time)

Walt - will try to find someone who knows where the pavers came from. I may be on my own with that one. I can almost guarantee the guys who ripped them up and are putting them back have no idea where they came from.

Any other comments/suggestions?
