Can Someone PLEASE Explain Downstreaming?

Hi guys, Im really going crazy trying to figure out how this downstreaming works. I guess I've been 'upstreaming' via my pw directly. I dont do alot of house exteriors, mostly decks and flatwork. Can some explain this process to me in simple terms?

1. Which tool will I need for this?
2. Does this mean I will need to use lots of extra hose?

I really need to break through the knowledge barrier on this one, so if you can enlighten me I would be eternally grateful! Thanks!

The term "downstreaming" refers to method of applying chemicals.

Downstreaming is applying chemicals downstream of the pump
and or downstream of the coils. In most cases downstreaming is done at low
pressures, however there are some injectors that will draw chemical at high pressure.
