<b><font color=green>Bob,carbon enbedded in paint is a nightmare to get all of it out. You'll have to or may have to take a thin layer of paint off to get it all.I have good luck useing DNB1430 or DNB1433 on carbon,if your sure its enbedded the 1430 will cut paint but is more likely to do damage if to strong,it will buddle paint. The 1433 would be more safer to use and does a good job of removing carbon.

Try a different kind of degreaser from the one you tried and add it to your soap mix, some will work better than other on carbon.

What type of paint?,,,baked on,brushed on? what color of paint? these all make a differents when trying to remove enbedded carbon as to how much can can taken off.

soap

Try degreaser, spray on at 50/50 then brush and let sit for about 2 minutes. Don't wait to long or the paint will come off with it.
