Cascade

Really, this is a two part question, so here goes, in reading the threads on house cleaning solutions, I noticed a lot of you use cascade, is this to stop the windows from streaking and if so does it work. Part two, doesnt the bleach in these solutions harm the plants, or is it so watered down by the time it hits the ground.
I've found most of my customers who are willing to pay good money to keep their homes looking nice are very picky about their plants as I am.

lets say you use a x-jet at a 50/50 rate to apply your house wash
now lets use 2 gal of 6% [sh]bleach in a 5 gal. mix
you water down everything first[plants]
then you have cut that 6% to 2.8% in the bucket
now your applying it at 50/50
so its 1.4%
you rinse with more water then you used to apply it so now its hitting the ground at about 1/2 of the 1.4 and the ground is wet from pre watering, plus some of it gets broken down from working and sunlight. so about 1% is left and you water everything down before you leave.
heres a little trick for you[keep this one under your hat]
get a bucket of miracle grow and on the last rinse of the plants run it threw your downstreamer.
dulition is the solution. bede be de bede thats all folks

Thanks Ron,
That cleared up that part of the question, I especially like the bit about the miracle Grow, I have customers that would lap that up, now about the cascade.

About the Cascade...........Yes.....and Yes.

Like was said above, water the plants down first, and it should be ok. I sometimes rinse them off before I wash the house too........just for good measure.

my experience has been that cascade in the mix minimizes streaking, but does not eliminate it entirely. i was just hired to do a quick and dirty window washing job--with a pressure washer rather than a squeegy. as my "window mix" i'm planning on using dawn and cascade in generous amounts in a bucket of water. i'm hoping that the greater predominance of cascade will eliminate streaks completely. i'll let you know how it works.

on the bleach. as long as you wet everything down well before and after washing, it will do no damage to your average vegitation at any strength you're likely to even think about using. i can't speak to exotic or otherwise fragile plants--i wouldn't want to let bleach get on orchids, for example. otherwise, have at it.

Why not skip the dish detergent and just use jet dry. no need for the extra detergents in the cascade, all you looking for is the rinse aid anyhow.

just a thought..

dont go crazy with the dawn window washers use a capfull in a 3 gal mix
use a rinse aid in you supply tank and you prob. wont need the cascade
a water softner would be best.

Richard, The only sure way for that to work well is to rinse with DI water.

You're right, cascade will not eliminate streaking entirely........its not meant for window cleaning........just an additive to a house wash mixture.

Good luck.

windex makes a garden hose screw on type product just for homeowners to wash the outsides of there windows. look into it maybe you could buy in bulk and use it in your downstreamer. maybe they list whats in it to make your own

The Windex stuff doesn't work and it's well expensive, half my customer tried it before calling me out.
