cedar roof

[Express clean]

I have to submit an estimate on a cedar roof.I have done a number of them over the years but not enough too consider myself an expert.The question i have is this roof has very heavy moss although the roof is not yet rotted. i scrapped a section with a paint scraper.Anyboby have experience with this heavy moss,Am i better off scraping first.I would say it is too heavy for a low pressure wash.Also what is approx. going rate it is about 3500sq.ft. I went to home depot and bought one of them double edge garden hoes, with a hoe on one side and a pair of fingers on the other. Made things a little easier becouse you could walk along and remove the moss.

Are you tied off somewhere when you are doing this? Sounds dangerous.

go to bigrocksupply.com , they sell Korkers. They slip on to your boots like sandals and you strap them up. Spiked on the bottom so safer to walk on shake roofs. Cost about 75 dollars. Prices i have seen are between .50-1.00 per spuare ft.

Hey Mike, it all depends on the pitch and if the shingles are wet.
As far as removing the moss I found it easier when the roof was dry. After the roof is wet, I'm always roped off, no matter what the pitch is.
