Chemical pumps

I need to know what kind of pump will pump chemicals, such as aluminum brightener, ect. without being eaten into extinction.
I bought a flow-jet pump, but it had a metal button in the fluid path and so I took it back, figured it wouldn't last long.

Have you considered a downstream injector?

ACID INJECTOR * 0-20% ADJUSTABLE

Product Information

Downstream injectors are installed after the pump. In order to function, the pressure must be lowered with the use of either a dual lance and soap nozzle, a variable nozzle, a dual nozzle holder, or an adjustable nozzle holder. Water enters the inlet of the injector and creates a venturi which drops the pressure and suctions the chemical from container. Chemical can be injected either in concentrated form or in diluted form. Chemical can be regulated by turning the dial on the injector or installing a metering device on the chemical line. The injector contains a check valve to prevent water from flowing into the chemical container while in high pressure mode.
NOTE: Length of hose will determine ability of injector to work properly. It is recommended to keep hose length at 100 feet or less.

Technical Notes
Draw rate 0 to 20%
Ceramic ball for injecting acids
Operating pressure: 3000 PSI.
Minimum 35% pressure drop for draw.
Maximum Temperature: 194 degrees F.
Inlet: 3/8" MPT.
Outlet: 3/8" MPT.

are you looking for a pump to get the chem from the drum to a pail? or from pail to surface?
i have a plastic siphon pump to get alum brightner from drum to pail and as mark suggested a downstreamer to get the AB to the surface.
Be sure to get the injector with the [acid ball/plastic] and flush it out with soap at the end of each cleaning session.

I'm not satisfied with the results I get from the downstream injector, I'm thinking about experimenting a little with some different things.

MobileClean,

How are you not satisfied with a d/s injector?

Have you looked in to a Two Step System?

What type of acid, and at what percentage?
What do you consider low pressure?

Sorry for all the questions but in order to give you
an answer that is applicable I need more data.

:)

The FloJet 4300-42A will pump 3.30 GPM @ 40 PSI
and is "designed to withstand many harsh chemicals"

There is a number of air driven diaphram pumps that
could work for you depending on exactly what you are pumping.

Another alternative might be running a compressor and using an air siphon system.

I've been useing a flo-jet for years,acids,caustic.

I even use one to pull the raw HF out of the drum when making alum. brightener.

Thanks, Bigboy
What are the specifics on your flow-jet pump (type, model, ect.).
I want is a pump to spray pre-mixed acid solution. Pressure is not a major concern as long as it will spray out the end of a wand with a low pressure tip.

I just replaced the flo-jet on the rig,its been on the rig for severals years. The only reason I replaced it is the bearings are worn out,it was a 2130-132...,3.7 gpm and 95 psi.The one I replaced it with is a mod # D3135E7011A,2 gpm at 100 psi,it should last longer b/c its more enclosed.

On the 2139-132 every time I ran acid though it I flushed it with soap,I have never flushed it when useing soaps, the soap has always been left in the pump without any harm.

The one I use in the shop for drawing raw acid (39%) is a 4300-142..3.7 gpm,45 psi and I always flush it after every use with water.

I've had to replace a psi switch two or three times,I've heard others say they have psi switch problems more offen. In the spring time I use the one in the shop to spray roundup...I like the pumps, also sur-flo makes a pump like flo-jet,heard tell they are also good pumps

Mobileclean, go to the flojet web site and look at specs. I went through this same deal early last year. If memory serves me right, the highest flow/psi I could get with : 1. no screw in the flow path, and 2. with viton, was 150 psi and 1.4 gpm, which was good enough for me.

If you do your research, you will find that viton is mandatory for acids, and that EPDM is better (but not mandatory) for alkaline based soaps.

What about those soda keg sprayers I have heard talk about them here and there but never used them myself. If anyone out there is could you state the pros and cons?

Mobile Clean,
Downstreaming as Mark suggested is the only way to go. Flow jet this flow jet that..... Hogwash.... Injecters last months and when they go bad you chuck them out. They are only about $13.00 bucks !!!!

Downstreaming ... Is the only way to go only if you have h20 available at the job site and you have a chem that can clean with that application...... with down -strean you use more h20 than with a flo-jet or shur-flo.. also with pre-spraying you can control your chems easier and save $$ ....... The current chem Im using I take 1gal outa a conc. drum and make 55gal then pre-spray that ... and then rinse......

It all depends on your application

Im not trying to argue>>>>>>>>>>> but I have tried those 13.00 $ injecters and they are what they are .. 13.00$

buy a good one from the start ,then compare that with those cheap butt ones .......... you wont want another 13.00$ one ................
