The only filters you won't be able to clean are the super-paper thin flimsy aluminum filters. You'll know them when you see them. If the company that last cleaned the hood had a big round sticker - they may have left those filters which are disposable. Otherwise, you can clean any filter with a good chemical, hot water and some pressure, not a lot. You can also soak them in hot water and caustic. Whatever you are using is not working.

The chemical that I use is my RS-35. All you have to do it put it on with a pump sprayer and spray on the filters. Let them sit there as long as you want. This chemical is a slim with caustic. Totally bio-degradeable. Aluminum filters you can leave it on them for 20-30minutes. The chemical pulls the oil out of the grease and just comes off. total it takes 3-5 minutes per filter to clean. The chemical does the job with no mixing. It comes ready to use.
