choking the 20 hp honda

All the guys around here have to choke the 20 hp honda,nomatter if it runs for 5 mins. or 5 hours they still have to choke it to start,even me.
Did honda design it that way or is there something to mod the carb to stop the choking every time to start?

My 25 hp Kohler is the same way. As long as it starts, I'm OK with it.

I have always had to choke mine as well. Hot or cold does not make a difference.

I wonder if a feller could take the whatyacalit out of the carb and put a plug in its place.I know some carbs you can take the whatyacalit out and it doesn't hurt anything as in the way it runs.I have never tore into a honda carb to see whats what in the way they work.Honda could have designed it where a feller can not remove the whatyacalit in the carb.

I have a 15 HP Kawasaki on one of my mowers and you only have to choke it on the first start up when cold. After that it will start with out choke all day long, maybe they already took out the whatyacalit at the factory.

I don't think the 15hp is big enough to have a whatyacalit,more than likely it has a thingiejig.
One of these days I'm going to take the whatyacalit off and plug the hole,hope honda did not design the carb to run with one.This winter I'll check into it more and see if the carb cann't be mod' or if honda has a updated carb.

When you say updated, i doubt it. I put a new 24 Honda on in Spetember and it is the same as my old 20 just bigger and newer. Choking is the same. They did add a snorkel type filter though.
