Does anyone have any idea of what I can use as a degreaser that is safe to use near water ways and does anyone have an idea what to bid on a job like this. The client wants me to clean a four 10 x 10 engine rooms to get it prep for blast and paint. The engine room is filled with oil , grease and grime . The room is very cramped and has very little room to move around . I do have two fairly large doors That give access to the engine room to gain access to area needing to be cleaned. i'm guessing it going to take 3 hours tops to clean each crane . I thinking about not bidding on this job cause it's near the water and I dont want the run off to get in to the water system near by. I dont have a water recovery system I can use . Does anyone have any ideas.

You might consider soda blasting. It would be very slow tho! The oil and grease would also be a big problem if you are working on the water.

Have you asked the customer if they can handle the containment of the oil, grease, detergent, and water?
