Cleaning Aluminum siding

What is the best way to clean aluminum siding on a house that has alot of green mildew on it? Would a hot water PW be enough, or should a cleaning chemical be used with it? Or maybe a cold water PW with a cleaning chemical be used? Either way I would like to clean the house without taking off any color from the aluminum siding.

Hot water is not needed on houses. If the house has oxidation and you do not want to remove it just use bleach.Spray on and you can watch the mildew go away. The green mold will turn white and rinses off easy

John,

Very seldom that I use hot water on houses, especially alum. You should use a cleaner for sure, bleach would be a good idea......it will make the mold/mildew removal much easier. When I wash aluminum houses, I also use a larger tip to reduce the pressure. Sometimes I think 3000psi is too much for aluminum.
