I have a good customer that just had 685 feet of split rail fence installed.......wants it cleaned and sealed. Anyone out there seal this type of fence before? I just need some suggestions on pricing. I figure its really going to soak up the sealer, since the cut of the wood is so rough. I will spray it on, of course. Any suggestions? email me if you dont want to post.

Thanks!

That fence doesn't even look like it needs to be cleaned! But if they insist!
I have never done that kind of fence yet,but I think I would do it time and materials. It can't take more than 2 or three minutes to clean and 2 or 3 minute to seal per section.

First of all are the boards overlapping if this is the case measure 1 board and x it by the number of boards. If not go with your original LF measuring. These kinds of fences take longer then you might think. Yes you should clean it, because you will have mill glaze on the smooth side. As for pricing if the fence is 6 feet then charge $7.00 a LF 5' $6.00 and so on.
