Cleaning Tennis Courts

Anyone ever clean a moldy tennis court?? I am going to give a suggestive bid on this tennis court........we will be doing other work at the house.............

But, I've never cleaned a tennis court before. I can't see it being all that difficult, but is there any hidden pitfalls I should be aware of?? I have a surface cleaner, but with that heavy of mold, not quite sure if that will be the most effective tool.

By the way, the court is 118' x 58' (6844 sq ft). Price same as any other flatwork??

Be carefull with your surface cleaner on a tennis court. you have to remember tat the
red outline, green court, and white lines are all painted. not colored concrete.
you can leave a zebra stripe very easily if not carefull.(previous experience)
the white lines will always bleed and you might want to recomend to the customer to
have the lines repainted after washing. it will make your job look even better.
good luck

tough turf

i have a bid in to re surface a basketball court.. same kind of thing.. the stuff they use is a kind of paint with grit in it. tough turf is a common one.. after they lay the concret they are suposed to acid wash it.. most dont so the tough turf starts comming off. when you hit it with the power wash the stuff will flake off...

i would tell the person you will try to clean it but depending on how the person put the tough turf down they might have cement showing..

maybe bid on redoing it. its not hard. just use a big squeegee to put on the paint. then repaint the lines..

I have a rule when it comes to cleaning something I don't kno much about, I will go to the person that builds tennis courts and ask them what you should do. I figure that they get this question often. Maybe you can get some refferals from them.

Mike,
I actually did one a couple of years ago. The court was being resurfaced so we didn't have to be concerned with any court damage...only cleaning it real well.

Mike, Ive done some in the past. Indoor and Outdoor courts. I used my surface cleaner ( 30" steel eagle) and hot water . Little or no chemicals. The biggest problem was getting the water off the court:mad: before it dried in the sun and just redeposited the dirt. I ended up using a squeege to push the first wash away then rinsing with the wand:D . This left it nice and pretty when I was finished.
