Comet Vs CAT Pumps?

I am looking at 2 washers that are close in price. One is a Home Depot 2800 psi @ 2.7 gpm with a CAT pump for $699.00. A Honda 6.5 HP.

And the other is a Noth Star 3000 psi @ 3.0 gpm with a Comet pump for $769.00. It says, 3000 PSI Comet pump, Model AXD3030G. A Honda 9.0 HP

The Noth Star has a larger motor and more hose. Better Deal? Is the Comet a good pump in comparison?

Thanks, therock

I think I would go with the Noth Star, its only 70 dallors more and a bigger motor,.03 more on the gpm which isn't that big of differents but more is better.

Thanks Larry L. What about AR Pumps?

I'm looking at another deal too. It's on ebay and\or smallenginewharehouse.com for $800.00. It's a 3000 psi @ 4gpm with an 11 HP Honda GX340 Engine. fbelieve it is has an AR pump. What kind of press do they get?

Hey Rock
Well I tried a General pump last year because of the price of the cat pumps.Well
it didn't last the whole year. My other unit has a Cat pump on it. It's been running strong for 6 years with only one seal change. And I run my chemicals through my pump. I would go with the Cat pump. But I would also go bigger at least 4.0 gpm with a Honda motor. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Cat pumps.........

You should at the very least change your seals every 2000 hrs. Regardless. Dont wait until the break down on ya. I always back Cat Pumps. They are costly but worth every penny.

I am looking a a general pump because i dont have the $200 right now for the upgrade. Its a good unit at 4gpm, 13hp Honda, and 3500psi. If the General goes down is it hard to replace with the cat pump later?

You can change them out no problem. General is a good pump but cat is better. You will find the General repack kits to be cheaper than Cat. I have both types and have to repack the General pump at least 2x more often than the Cat.
