Concerned about chemicals in pool

Doing a house tomorrow. Nice inground pool in the backyard. They want the concrete done as well, to include around the pool area.
Any precautions I should take to avoid getting chemicals in the pool? Probably won't be using anything but bleach and soap around the pool. It's not in too bad of shape. Bleach of course is not a problem, but what about the soap? Does the pool's filtration system take care of that? They said they will cover the pool before I get there, but I'm still concerned about some getting through.
Is this something I should be worried about, or is it a non issue?
Thanks for any replys.

It's times like these...

G'day Randy

It's times like these when you wish you had a vacuum system on the surface cleaner... I've been caught with dirt etc from the pavers getting into the pool - when using s/c, water and waste gets blown out the side.

My suggestion would be use the wand for the pool edge and try to push everything away from the pool. Hold the wand over the water - but don't lean too far....

And of course warn the pool owner about the worst that could happen - and that's not you falling in!!!

Cheers

The pools filter will do what it is meant to and clean up. The chemicals will be off for the rest of the day...assuming you are not over creative with your choices. The home owner will need to know he or she should clean the pool filter and to look forward to it being gumed up...check the pools chemicals the day after and add appropriate shock, acid whatever. I have checked with my local pool supplier and have had it okayed for what we do with no prob. Also, any covers that cover a pool are more apt to get damaged than the pool itself...

Just do it, get dirty water in the pool and dont worry...it will be fine.

Thanks a bunch guys. I just got home from doing just that. The concrete around the pool wasn't over 4 ft wide, so I dod the whole thing with my wand. Very minimal junk in the pool. Turned out wonderful and the homeowner was very happy with the results. She even told me she'd give me a bunch of referals. Very affluent family in an upscale neighborhood. Cha-ching!! Thanks again.

Randy,

[hello] Sounds like things are picking up.

:)
Yeah, Mark, but it's still pretty slow. I've got the feeling though that it's getting ready to bust wide open. Keeping my fingers crossed and hangin' in there. Take care, man.

Randy, you may already done so...I have had great luck with property management companies. You only need one big one..I have one with 1100 properties....I am just getting "in" but I have already seen serious potential here. I am in contact with three of the managers at the one company and they have all said that every property they rep need power washing once or twice a year.

They called me BUT now that I know...if the need arises, i can look in the yellow pages and send em all a nice letter,.

I also plan on joing the local Home Builders and Contractors Association. I am told that they have a serious networking opp.
