Concrete sealers...

Hi guys,

Has anyone had any experience with using H&C concrete sealers and stains, (in residential/commercial accounts)?
What is your take on H&C's performance, quality, and durability?

What's the recommended average sq ft $ for this? (This sealer requires degreasing, etching, and rolling on two coats of the silicone acrylic seal onto the concrete surface.)

thanks,

Is any one experienced with concrete refinishing?

What has been your take on the market for concrete sealing/staining (residential/commercial) services. Is this an area worth pursuing?

thanks for your time,

Rambo,

We have done a drive with the H&C. It was rather easy to work with - we were happy with the results - the homeowner was ecstatic. I read somewhere on another bbs that sealing/staining of concrete prices range anywhere from .35/sq ft for cleaning & staining to $1.50 for both. Our job averaged out to about $1.22/sq ft for the acid clean & stain. We included the cost of materials in our figure.

I am now exploring faux finishing concrete through acid staining (make that old concrete patio look like slate or flagstone). The concept is picking up in our area - I'll know more about how that's going to work out in a couple of months.

What kind of concrete surface preparation materials ( degreaser, etching solution) did you use, before you sealed that driveway with the H&C? Same brand?

Did you use a powerwasher to speed up the degreaser?
If so, whats the preferred psi, gpm, and tips that you recommend?

thanks for your time,

Hey Rambo,
We do primarily concrete staining and epoxy coatings for concrete only. We use exclusivly H&C stains for pools and walkways with great results. We usually charge $1.40 sq.ft. and people are happy with the results. You can use H&C with a roller or sprayer, we prefer rolling. They also have great stencils for patterns. As far as cleaner/degreaser/etcher, H&C has their own but it is more expensive than say zep or any othe rover the counter cleaner. The only time we use H&C etcher is around pools because it is organic and not harmful to people or pets, otherwise we just use a dilluted muriatic acid. Our main business is custom garage floors not powerwashing so our business is not as steady as powerwash pros but it works well for us. Hope this helps.
