Can't find the thread and I know it's here somewhere...

Does anyone know the formula for converting an ounce of weight to an ounce of volume? I need to know how much volume is the equivalent of 8 oz. (weight). Please don't tell me I need to get a scale...please.

Depends on what you are weighing which is related to the specific gravity of the solution. Specific gravity is related to water which weighs 1 kg. per litre at 20 degrees C or 10 pounds per Imperial gallon or 8.345# per US gallon. Another 'Rule of Thumb' is a pint is a pound the whole world round.

Once you know the specific gravity of the solution (usually stated on the MSDS) you can do some math to arrive at the exact number you seek.

Hope this helps? Cheers.

Go HERE . It's a great conversion calculator. Just scroll down to the Liquid Measure area, then enter an 8 in the box next to Fluid Ounces, finally click the Convert button next to Liquid Measure & Vualla, all the measurements you will ever need!

their is no such thing as a conversion chart from volume to weight, unless it applies to a specific substance and the chart is just for the one substance.
I have in the past asked mfg. of specific chems to sell measureing cups that state on them the amount of chem to be used to get a specific result's.
For instance HD80.
Russ was going to look into doing this but never did.
Prob cost prohibitive.
Why not start a specific thread for someone to post the weight of one cup of the chem your looking to weigh?
Then you'll get your ans.

You are right, Ron. Thanks.

BTW...I got my answer, well several differnt ons, actually. I stripped and brightened 4 decks today using HD-80 and I followed Tony C aka APlus' rule of thumb...6 oz. (Volume) to 1 gallon of water. It works GREAT! My helper was as happy as a pig in $h!t!
