how involved is it to convert from a direct drive to a belt drive pump , im asking this because i ve seen that i can boost my gpm and lower my psi without having to buy a new engine . right now im pushing 4.0 cold with 13 hp
ive seen where i can get up to 5.50 running the same engine and was thinking the 350.00 upgrade would be worth it.

I have done this, or I hired a small engine repair shop to do so. The motor itself got turned and mounted sideways, wires had to be extended, proper pollies had to be bought to spec. out to your pump and motor. If you are not sure of all the above changes that need to be done and are not sure of the mathmatics of the proper spec's? I would have it done by a professional.

We had a 25h.p. motor and a udor pump converted to belt driven, and it was the best thing I have ever done for maintanenace issues. The cost to do it was about $300 to $350 I can't quite recall.

good luck,

Tony

I had the same set-up and found a gear drive pump works really well. 5.5 gpm/3000 psi actually gives around 5.5 and 2400 psi. It runs a surface cleaner much better than 4/4000. (Remember to change the tips!) I spent just under $350 for the pump (Comet) and gearbox and installed it myself.
