Take a look at Easy Route Plus-have been using it for 3 plus years-I think it's great.

Hi Mark,
What do you want to populate the database with? Customer info? Inventory? What do you want to get out of it? What are the bells and whistles you are looking for?

ACT! and Goldmine are both excellent contact management programs. We use ACT! ourselves.

You can also create custom databases in MS Access, Lotus Approach, and DBase.

If you can tell me a little more, I might be able to steer to to a type of database driven application rather than just a pure database.

What is it about ACT that you don't like? We've managed close to 5,000-7,000 contacts on average in our ACT database for years and never had a problem with it. Personally, I've been using ACT since it was a DOS program 10 years ago. Tried Goldmine, Maximizer, etc., etc., over the years and none were as efficient or as powerful as ACT.

If you got questions on the software there are also a multitude of books out there on it, the best is probably any by Jeffrey Maher, he's a consultant who trains companies on how to use ACT in their departments like sales, customer service, etc. He's also the one who wrote ACT 2000 for Dummies. Even after using it for many years I picked-up that book and learned a few things that I didn't know.

ACT is a highly efficient contact management program, it is what we use here to keep track of our customers and prospects. It is also what we base almost all of our contact management features that we put into ServiceCEO, as we are users of the program and know what features are helpful to us as far as lookups and integrated marketing capabilities. If all you need is straight contact management you really will be happy with it.

If you would like one program that can handle contact management integrated in with all of your job and employee scheduling, invoicing, billing, personnel filing, capacity management, revenue reporting, dispatch board, accounts receivables, ..etc then click on the link below to our website to check out the solutions we provide.

Act is my program of choice, it works great for managing contacts and scheduling reoccurring jobs. I have thought about looking into a program that would integrate scheduling and book keeping, but I don't have the time or am just not willing to make the time to learn all over again, beside if it ain't broke.

Quickbooks Pro and ACT! can be synchronized so you don't have to do double entry. We use that feature allllll the time. Works like a charm.
