I wanted ask this question for those that may respond. My deck at home is 12 x 36 Pressure Treated Pine w/rails that has had Behr applied 3 years ago (big mistake!!) , Last year I stripped the Behr with Wolmans Stripper(hydroxide base), I used 4:1 dilution with water. I then applied (last year) Wolmans F & P Golden pine with 1 cup of natural added. It looked good for about 1 month then I could tell that it was failing, especially the floor that gets a lot of sun. I stripped the finish off last weekend with a 4:1 dilution of Wolman Stripper, but I can tell that the finish isn't completely removed. (water still beads some and color isn't completely gone). After I stripped I neutralized with oxalic acid. What would you guys recommend? Should I use a stronger solution of stripper? or maybe a different stripper. Last year, I also added a 4 ft wide deck w/rails around a 15 x 30 above ground pool that hasn't had anything applied to it yet. I cleaned with bleach/water. I now want to apply Superdeck PT Cedar, ( I got 6 gallons at a local paint store close out for $2.00 per gallon) So, the price for the stain couldn't be beat so I think I would like to try it and see how it does. Does anyone have experience with Superdeck?
I think that actually I didn't have the original Behr stripped off last year and this was why the Wolmans failed.
Any comments would be appreciated.
