I heard on the news today 5 deer hunters killed and 3 wounded,I not only felt sad for the families it made a sad day for me too.I'm just getting back into hunting and something like this happens when I had thought things like had been done away with years ago with gun safety and new sportsmanship.

I guess not huh,I do not know all the details yet so I cann't say what happen or why.

I can say tho it will make gun control one of the top subjects for weeks to come, with wanting even more rules and stuff.I hope I'm not entering into a different sportman word I once knew...

Does anybody have any details ...............

What a tragic loss and a purely senseless act.
Unfortunately the media will politicize this event beyond all rational comprehension and the tragedy will become just a lost by-product of the spin machine.
We can only hope that somehow the survivors and thier families will be granted the grace and the strength to cope.

people suck Larry.

Me and my son was watching the news when the story broke ..... My youngest son (14) said "dad Im not sure if I want to go to camp this year"

But We are going Sunday afternoon ............. No-Phone -- No-power-- (except generator) No- H2o --(except jugs) ................ camping at it's finest

That may change by next season I think I may buy some prime hunting ground .and it has elec. and H2o nearby ...........42 "big chunks of ground" I will find out next month.

Thanks Scott for the link.

By reading inbetween the lines there is more to it then just a hunter being in the wrong spot, seems to be a problem between two groups of people in that area.

I knew tho the news would jump at a chance to call our deer rifles assault rifles..

I sure wouldn't want to hunt in that area or anywhere the sportsman is not honored in sportsmanship.

I couldn't believe it. The men were massacred only three hours from where I grew up in Northern Wisconsin. There are some really great people up there and there are some wackos too. When I was 14 a guy shot a horse out from underneath an 11 year old girl! I'm glad I moved out to Palm Springs, CA.. I gave up hunting but my golf game certainly has gotten better. I'm really sad for those and the families who were involved... there's absolutely no reason why this should have happened. I remember before I moved out here that the Hmong were rising in population as well as MN, causing lot of havoc and troubles. Not to mention most up there are pretty strong-willed to begin with if you know what I mean. Makes me really angry and sick...Communities up that aren't ones to sit back and let something like this happen... [puke]

It's a shame.....

I used to bow hunt quite often and never ran across any problems. It is a shame. Did they say the guy was an illegal ? Makes ya wonder how they got there and able to stay enough to get comfortable with hunting ??????????????? Unbelievable. May God be with their familys.....

I know the story want help the sportsman none(gun control) but to chase someone down and shot them is murder.A sportsman does not chase humans down and shot them unless they are fighting in wars, then humans is fair game.

I'm taking two grandsons hunting today and maybe tomorrow and would not like hunting in woods where you have to be on look out for humans too as he will be labeled the most dangous animal in the woods in that area.

Stupid people like that is why the sportsman has to fight for his right to hunt with rifles that shoot center fire bullits....which alot of people are calling them assult rifles not a sportmans gun.

I do not know all the facts on the shooting yet but if true he chased them down and shot them.......scarely.If hunting in that area and seen another human it would make you wonder(now) who he is hunting, you are wild game.I know the true sportman in that area will try to keep things calm as this is something that doesn't happen and every rare in most cases.

I've spent alot of money this year just to get back into hunting, clothes, guns, bows, blinds and ect..Today I'll spend more b/c the camo shop is having a sale and the grandboys needs warmer clothes/shoes to hunt in.Hopefully in my teaching them to be sportsman and what not to do or do they want turn out to be a rare breed that chases humans down and shot them.

Anyway its hard to say what I'd do in a case like this,I'm lost for words even when trying to explain it to the grandkids as to why.

Why is everyone so surprised ????? Play with guns people "WILL" get hurt.... No matter what the circumstances are....... I never hunted in my life and I am not a anti - hunter..... However, put guns in peoples hands and "We should be surprised", please...... I guess there are a few bucks in WI that will live another day....

I read the story on several different news sources. The shooter was a nut case already. Several domestic violance calls one involving a gun. The guy was trespassing on private property! All I can say is there going to open season on Hmongs, If there isnt already.

Gwas your statement is misleading in this case but will agree with you any time some one plays with a gun they'll get hurt.

Hopefully the law will change and any body with a domestic violance case will not be allowed to own a gun. Here in Arkansas you cann't even buy hunting lic if your behind in child support and if the court labels you a felon for being behind in child support you cann't even own a gun or driver lic.

Sportman will be sportman in this case b/c of their teaching in gun safety and its enjoyment. Here we have enough repect as to not trespassing on private property, even our law reads if your hunting on private property you have to have a signed letter on you at all times from the owner.

Like what was stated,a nut case.

Your right on target, sportsmen never, ever "PLAY" with guns. Only a misinformed Idiot would do that.

Gotta go eat that turkey I shot last week!

Why is everyone so surprised????? Play with automobiles and people "WILL" get hurt. No matter what the circumstances are....I am not anti automobiles....However put cars in peoples control and we should be surprised? 43,220 deaths in 2003 (40% alcohol related) Paaaa-leese!

6 people dead....familes torn apart...."a few more bucks in WI will live another day" what a sick statement!
