So I did a two story alumin sided house which was in real bad shape. They had one of my comptitors quote the job and told them the house needed paint and PW was a waste of time. Of course since he is a painter he gave them a quote on painting which "included" a PW to get it clean to paint. They wanted to know what I thougth. I told them I agreed the house needed painted and that PW "gets it clean and will improve the look" but that it still needed painted. Well they decided to have me PW it (which I think I undercharged) and now are not happy that it does not look better. Bottom line is I am getting paid but it has made me think strongly about a PW fact sheet for houses telling the customer what PW will and will not do. I would like this to be a one pager that they will sign which will reference the quote and authorize the work. Is anyone out there doing something similar? If so would you share it. I will share mine when complete.
Thanks
Ned

Hey Ned, what we do is a pre-inspection with the customer. On our invoice it has a section called pre-inspection. We fill out any problem areas, concerns, etc....then have the customer sign before we do the job. Then after the job we have a section on the invoice for post-inspection where we take the customer around the house looking for anything that is wrong. They sign that all is satisfactory. Then we get paid.

This helps in describing exactly what we can and cannot do to make the house look better.
It also is a time to go over with the customer all the particulars about cleaning their home and what other services we can provide for them.

Hope this helps,
