Does anyone vent exhaust from PW and heater out side trailer?

Hi Guys
I am still setting up my new rig and want to exhaust the vangard engine and my hot water heater exhaust outside. What is the best way to do it?
I have an Elite unit just like the RK21. Thanks Tim

Tim,

Do you have a gas motor or a diesel motor?

I will assume the vanguard is gas. Did you know most manufactures are replacing the 20 horses with the 21-horse v twin? Some say it is the same motor.

Hey wiz is it?

Well anyway I would not put a gas motor in an enclosed space with out and external fueling. The exhaust is very important but fueling the unit from the inside is dangerous. If you had and all diesel unit it really would not matter. Figure a system to fuel from the outside. My suggestion would be mount a tank on the tongue of the trailer. Fumes in an enclosed space is not good. If mounted in a van it is very dangerous with out and external fueling.

Getting to your ?????????

I had & enclosed unit once. My water reclamations units are enclosed. Don’t want anyone to see the placebo. Just get some sheet metal from your hardware store and tin snips and have at it. Exhausting the burner will not take much. The motor exhaust I wouldn’t do if I could leave the door open when running. I would take that to a muffler shop I bet they could get it out for about 50.00 bucks. I had larger mufflers put on a unit once and it wasn’t much more than that. Hey they might even be able to help you with the burner. If they do it you can be assured it will look clean. I know mine looked like I did it. It worked but didn’t look great.

Hi Tim,

This url should show you a picture of the inside of our White truck. http://www.tps-inc.com/inside3redtruk.jpg

The picture shows the draft deverter that we installed on our burner (helps pull fumes out). The exhaust of the engine is next to it. This unit is diesel powered engine and burner. We have the fuel pumped up to the machine from a saddle tank mounted on the frame of the truck chassis.

Tim,
I have an enclosed trailer with a drop down rear door. I installed a vent on the top and attached a pipe to the exhaust on the motor pointed up to the vent. I always leave the back door dropped and the side door open and the vent open while the motor is running. I have not had a problem with fumes or heat build up. It was an easy fix.
)

Has anyone had problems with heat build up
from units being inside trailer?
I have a 36in side door and dbl doors in the back also 2 roof vents (non powered). Think I will still have problems? Thanks Tim.
