double-tip wand

Does a dual-tip wand cut the amount of psi that your machine produces in half?? Does it double the spray pattern?? Sorry for the dumb question. Just curious. Thanks for all of your help on this question and all of the others I have had.

Do you mean a dual lance?

Do you mean a dual lance wand? A dual lance is also called a varible pressure wand. You can adjust the pressuare just by a simple twist of the handle. SO you can have full power or as little as you need to do the job. I have several dual lance wands of diffrent sizes. I like them the best . I do have one single lance but can't remember the last time I used it:D Hope this helps

MD,

No such thing as a dumb question.

The reason why there is two tips on a dual lance wand is so you can adjust the pressure. One tip is for washing, and the other is for dumping excess pressure. So, when you dial the pressure down, less pressure comes out of your wash tip, and the excess is vented out of the other tip.

No it does not cut your psi in half,,you down size each tip to match your psi's.
Yes it will double your spray pattern,,,can even run two turbo's.

will agree with the others on a double lance tho, thats what its made for,is to drop psi at the wand but your talking about a dual-tip.

I never have used one but know what your talking about, have seen them..I really have no need for one or I'd already had it.

Hi, what brand duel lance do you use? I cant find one that dos'nt LEAK. Everyone i have used leaks-i dont mind when its 60 deg. outside but its getting too cold for it to be running down my arm when in truck washing. Its not the gun leaking its where the twist handle is and there is no name on the part. Yes its brand new-not warn out. I think its the heat that kills the seal.
Please help if you can. Thanks

Ron,
I use a single never tried a dual. I've been meaning to get one, just haven't gotten around to it. What brands have leaked so I will know to stay away from them.

Most dual wands will eventually wear out, and not shut off completely.

If you release the trigger before closing the valve fully it is easier on the
valve / seals, and they will last longer.

When closing the valve, never over tighten it as this is hard on the seat
and the seals.

Arrow Line (AR North America), Interpump, and Suttner, build good quality
dual wands, as for which is better it depends on who you ask.

Here are a couple pictures of dual wands:

I personally like the AL wands.

sorta relaxing there alittle are you Mark,I see doubles, haha.

I like the General Double Lance,I've had better luck with the seat.

I've been whipping one around for almost 10 years now and learned long time ago not to over tighten. If you have to twist it to break it close, its to tight.
Man I have mine feather toned to the touch, from off to wide blank open or anywhere inbetween.I can turn mine off and on with two fingers,I don't haveta get a holdt and twist.

When ya get tried it running down dripping off your elbow and getting the front of your pants wet you'll treat that seat like it was made out of butter.

I have more trouble them leaking at the valve where the two lances screw in,have to retighten two or three times,,then later on haveta cut the ends off and rethread,I use to wear them suckers out faster then rabbits could have rabbits until I learned not to twist the butter out of the valves.I have one I don't want to throw away b/c I've had it that long,it fits me,it don't leak and I just love useing it.When I get a new one I add more spacers inbetween the lances, they help keep it from bending backwards as most usually do.

you may mean a wand with a dual tip. you can get a part that holds 2 nozzle tips and screws onto the end of a single wand. a ball valve determines which of the 2 tips is spraying; you can only use one or the other. i have a wand with a soaper for one tip and a 15 degree for the other. can soap and rinse with having to change tips or wands.

Hi richard you are talking about a 'roll over' if you ever tried useing that all day to wash trucks with a 32'' or worse a 42'' wand that little ball of brass on the end would make you so darn tired you would wish you tried the duel lance. just my opinion but my back tells me im right.

Haha little ball of brass,if its so little then why did it fell like it was a church bell at the of the day.
I ordered a single wand that had the brass head but also the V.speed handle to change from high to low,I thought maybe it was the wand so I ordered a roll over valve and when it came in I took a look at it and said hmmmm shake it to change from one to the other hmmmm shate,shate,shate,sha-----te,sha-----te atleast it was building different muscels.

From dump guns to roll overs but they do make a wand with two ends about 2 or 3 ins. long that you can attach two turbo's.hmmmmm how do I say this......ok from the gun its a single rod and at the end of the rod it spilts into two, like looking down at a U,The picture I seen had two turbo's attached to it.
A few years ago I buildit one like it,I ran two 25 degree 4 gpm. nozzles in it.It was ok for speed but I didn't use it long, holding that roll over valve up in the air was a piece of cake compaired,,,think the extra weight came from useing a stick welder.
It may be o k for flatwork to run two turbo's but sure wouldn't want to hold them up for long.

On the double lances I have from 6 in. to 7 ft. plus I custom fit it to me from gun to V.speed handle.
Also I run a open gun which may be the reason they last longer....I think the flow unloader would be better for the double lances than a pressure unloader b/c of the sudden burst of force on the seals.

Hey bigboy

Twin turbos! Now your talkin. I would like to see a surface cleaner with that set-up then you would have something. Mount it on a riding mower where the blade would be then put a spray bar on the front with a tank of cleaner on the rear. Now thats a cleaning machine. heck hitch up a tank trailer and make it self contained-you could clean parking garages or make it run on propane and do wharehouses.
I am working on a surface cleaner that uses an ATV
IT WOULD HAVE A TRAILER TANK ON THE REAR[maybe you have seen the trailer pressure washers that have the washer mounted on top of the steel tank that is the frame of the trailer with the 2 fuel tanks. Then i use a mower type deck on the front that holds the 3 spray bars-hindge that and use a simple hand winch to raise and lower the deck for going over the curbs and loading and unloading.
Only draw back is you would need 2-use1,fill-1 unless i can find a way to mount the motor and pump to the ATV. bUT RIGHT NOW THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE GETTING OUT OF THE BIZ AND SKIDS ARE SELLING FOR $2500.
I want to clean major malls and shopping centers
Anyone have any specs. on what pump i should use with my 20hp briggs to run 3 spinner heads or am i going to have to downsize? looking to do a 42" or 36" and go a little faster.

THE GREATEST RISK- IS TAKING NO RISK
