Down Flow Injector

Was washing the other day and when I turned on the hot water it would not pull chemical. If I turned it off and used cold water it would work. I think I'm getting pressure buildup with the hot water and not getting enough pressure drop. Anybody have or had this problem? Anybody know the cure???

Thanks.....

My first question is did your downstream injector work in the past? How much hose are you using? This type of thing depends on the injector. On some injectors there is a little o-ring in the injector that the check ball rides on, that will sometimes get pushed out of the injector because the hot water softens it. The whole O-ring is small enough to fit inside of a 1/4" o-ring, but does not look small enough to fit through the hole. It does though. I caught this multiple times with a general injector.

Scott, yeah it worked when I started the job, but I was using cold water and a detergent chemical to blast off built up dirt. And when I turned on the burner for hot water it would not pull. Was trying to apply a degreaser to remove hydrolic fluid. With the burner on and a chemical nozzle on the wand, I could hold the trigger on and no soap. Without releasing the trigger I would turn the burner off and about 10 to 20 seconds it would start pulling chemical, therefore I thought it might be building up back pressure with hot water. I was using 100' of hose and a robochem injector that came with the washer. What would you recommend?? Chunk it and buy a better injector??

Thanks

Those injectors are rated at 165deg F. General pump does not recommend using them for hot water. My suggestion is to install it after the pump just before the coils for best results. Inject the soap before the water is heated.

Get a J.E.Adams injector. The one I have pulls really well, and can be run with hot water all of the time. Since it is a Robo-kim I think that it is just a junk injector with the possibility of a little nit of blockage in the coil. This might be restricting the volume to the hose because as it heats up it causes the calcium to expand.

Hey Scott, if you would e-mail me and tell me where I can find the injector. Also is there anything that I can run through the coil to clean it besides taking it off.

Thanks for the help.....

I am the manager of a service center. I repair Hot Water Pressure Washers every day in California. We use a seperate pump to descale coils. You have to disconnect your coils from your pump first. After the unloader. I use a diaphram pump to pump Sulpheric Acid thru the coils. They make alot of chemicals that you could use, but this stuff is the most potent. They also call it Descale. Very strong acid. If you run it thru your pump you will be sorry you did. The whole process takes about 4 hours. I use the diaphram pump to recirculate the acid. I hook a hose from the pump to the coils I prime the pump with a water hose and run it into a 5 gallon bucket then, I make the pump pull the water out of the bucket and a hose connected to the coils puts the water back in the bucket. This starts the circulation. Then I pour in about a half of a gallon of acid into the bucket. The bucket is only half full at this point. And for good reason, the acid makes foam when it is working. This foam will over flow the bucket if you let it. You have to watch it. When the bubbles stop I start the process over with fresh water and fresh acid. When you stop getting a reaction from the acid it is done. Then you run water thru the coils for about 15 min and put it back together.
