Down Streamer

Why does my downsteamer have water comming out of the chemical inlet line? When I put the D/S on the pump surges while not washing and water steady going into the chemical tank. Its only 95hrs old. I took it apart there doesn't seem to be much to it. Can anyone help?

Austin, Sounds like the check valve is shot. There is a check valve in the injector, some are metal, some are ceramic. The metal ones will corode and leak. Both will sometimes stick and not seat. Take it apart and look inside. There should be a small spring and a ball. Do it in a box or tray so you dont loose the small parts. Most likely it needs replacing.

also look for the rubber seat for the ball..you need this. sometimes to much heat causes the rubber o-ring to deform and go into the injector(wrong type rubber for heat ). suds

i usally only get around 75-100 hours out of a downstreamer, so if you have 95 on it get ba new one. one thing that helps you get more life out of them is sucking five gallons of clean water throuhg it while your rinsing.

I agree with the earlier replies about problem with your injector, replace ball, spring and o-ring or just throw it away and replace with a new one.

Mine are like the rabbit,I use non-adjustable,at 9.50,adjustable 11.99.........but the thread is about how to fix a downstreamer not how much you pay for one,do we need to move this thread too,,,j/k.

And thanx for the tip on upstreaming the soap. I plumbed it in today and washed the ol' Dodge, damn thats a heck of alot better. I bet it will save me some time washing.
