Dual Wands

I just bought a dual wand strickley for using on decks. One end with a 15 degree tip, the other with a 40 degree. i tryed it and what is happining is when the handle is screwed in all the way, the upper lance works. When I unscrew the handle all the way out, both lances are on. Is this normal? I thought that they would both work independently.

This is normal. The 15° side is your high pressure side and all runs thru there. The 40° is the dump side and all the psi that does not come thru the 15° when you open it is coming out on the 40.
You can reduce pressure on the fly with no drop in gpm. Should you want it all to come from one tip then you need to use a regular wand and use larger tips to reduce psi.

You can also use a roller head. It allows two tips and you need to just roll it from side to side to select the tip. I think that for what you want to do this is the best idea.

use your dual lance with a zero degree soap tip in the high pressure hole, and a 65 or 45 degree soap tip in the second hole. it's a good house cleaning setup for downstreaming. you can get pretty much the whole house this way. for decks i use a yellow tip in the high pressure hole and keep the 65 degree soap in the other (i like 45 better though. just don't have one). pump spray the deck with sodium hydroxide, let sit, and rinse with both tips running on lowest pressure (works best with hot water). no pressure deck cleaning. brighten if you want of course. i actually bought a dual lance-trigger wand from sunbrite. instead of turning the handle, you pull a trigger. i like both ways though.
