dwell time

i practiced on my own house to prepare for my first job pressure washing a house. i didn't get jack for dwell time. i noticed from an answer to another thread today that my first mistake was using liquid tide in my wash--2 gals bleach, i cup liquid tide and a squirt of liquid cascade. will using dawn dishwashing liquid instead of tide solve my problem? how much dawn in a 5 gal batch of housewash? are there chemicals that provide even greater suds?

also, if i'm getting insufficient dwell time does it help to just keep applying, or is the dwell time necessary for the chemical to soak in(so that repeated applications that quickly run off don't do much if any good)?

thanks

Hi Richard i am the person that wrote that bit about the Tide.
Try this 1] wet down all plants-grass 2]apply your mix-the mix will depend on what tool you use to apply it i.e. x jet-downstream-sure-flo -[post or e mail me rottie72@aol.com] apply bottom to top 3] apply to 2 sides of the house 4] go back to where you started and rinse top to bottom 5] do the same for the rest
6] wash the steps and walk 7] do a walk around and make sure no dirt came out of the weep holes in the sideing
one other thing i would do is cover[plastic] any brass plate fixtures[lights-kick plates on door bottoms-ect...]
8] use windex to clean glass on inside of storm door
on hot days you should take the wand with you for that last walk around and re-water the plants and grass
i use a x-jet nozzle to apply and wash houses i love it some people dont.
my mix 1 gal bleach-1 cup dawn-3 cup truck wash the rest H20 in a 5 gal container[enclosed-no spill] i put 1 on opisite corners of the house and hardly ever need more then the 2 if very moldy i use 1 1/2 gal bleach to the 5 gal
i am no KING OF PW but i have had 35 happy customers this year
OH YEA I USE HOT WATER ALSO.
Next spring i am going to advertise any single story house $99
[up to so meny sq. ft.] vinyl sided and $150 for 2 story[same] then sell the add-ons when they call.[i want to add a 0 to the end of that 35 and am going full time]
you said you were washing wood sided house you should be useing tri-sodium phousphate from home depot in your wash mix
