Estimate Sheets, Opinions Please!

Guys I'm having a lady put together some estimate sheets for power washing for my business and would like some pro opinions on the content of what should be on them. I know to put the items you are capable of cleaning but what about a place for dimensions, special instructions, notes? Can you guys tell me a few items that you have on the estimate sheets other than what you can clean? What about disclaimers? Thanks! This board is awesome!

Kevin, I'm sure everyone does their proposal sheets a little differently. Mine has a white and yellow copy, I give the white to the potential customer. I list the items to be cleaned and if I think there will be any confusion, I list what is not included. I group items together with a price and other items with other prices. This lets the customer pick which groups of items they want to have cleaned. They don't feel forced into doing more than they want to spend. I don't list deminsions because the custmer can then call around and get other estimates on the phone because they now have MY measurements. (I like the competition, but I'm not going to do their work for them.) I do have verbage on the proposal prepared by my lawyer to protect me against slow payers or no payers. Basicly 18 % APR after 30 days and the customer agrees to pay all reasonable collection costs including attorney fees for the occasional jerk you run into. 99 % of the customers pay when job is complete or send a check a few days later. Large commercial accounts will take the full 30 days.

I think you should also protect your self against your employees, if you have any. Make them sign a contract not to compete. This contract protects you from your employees bidding on any of your accounts after he is no longer employed by you. It would protect you leagaly. You don't know how many times a former employee of one of my customers has approached me to buy his own machine with the idea of making his former boss sorry.
