Extension Wand

I used my extension wand for the first time today, I tried to apply chemical from my 3400 psi machines chemical injector but no chemical would come out the end of my wand, the wand was only extended about 15 feet. Can someone give me a reason and how to correct it. Thanks, Mike G

I think if you'll look the psi hose in the wand is smaller, you'll need a bigger chemical tip, mine will work with a 3040 tip.

Thanks Larry, my chemical injector tip is 2540. I'll get me a 3040 tip and let you know how it turns out. Thanks Mike G

Mike,
Changing the spray pattern 5 degrees isn't going to help. Are you down streaming?

Try lowering the wand to get the prime going, then raise it up.

I use a dual lance when down streaming, and it's easy, just twist the handle.

If your chemical tip worked before the xtension pole - I really think it should work after it. Changing tips could make a difference - but I would guess only in the amount of soap or spray angle - not just to get it to work.

Are you certain your chemical hose is fully submersed in the chemical? Sometimes mine curl upwards and start sucking air instead of stay at the bottom.

Also - try sucking up the soap using just your trigger and chemical tip... Once the soap gets flowing, quickly switch to xtension wand and see if it carry on from that momentum.

If you have 2 people, have someone kind of stir the chemical hose in the chemical while you are applying... I guess kind of like you do with a straw and a milkshake. This can sometimes help get things flowing too.

Just some ideas... :)

I've had problems downstreaming chems with my extension wand (24')too! Everything else will be working fine, dual lance, single lances with soap tip, but once in a while when I switch to the extension, I can't draw chems.

It doesn't seem logical that it's due to being fully extended, as we're already pumping through 200' of pressure hose. Another 24' doesn't make sense. Could it be that when the chem level in the bucket's low (1 gal or less in a 5 gal.) that the gravity weight (amount of chem in the bucket) makes a difference? Reason I ask is that when I think about it, this seems to be the scenario when I have trouble.

Generally, I don't have a problem soaping with my "big wand". But it always seems to happen at an inconvenient time. Any help is appreciated.

You probably need to re-size your downstream injector the extension wand
is most likely creating more back pressure at the injector.

Larry's idea of increasing the nozzle orfice size will probably work also! [whatup]

Thanks Mark. Already changed my downstream, will try a different nozzle. Had the same situation today on a large Condo Unit. Got by, but need to fix the problem.
