Fire Fighting Strike Teams - Cali Style!!!

Found an old pic of me and the 'gang' stopping in the middle of a fire zone on one of the fire campaigns I've been on when I was firefighting. Miss those times.

I am sure Chad, Eric and Jen Flinn can relate!!

This was during the time when 632,000 acres burned in California that year. This particular pic was taken on a Indian Reservation. We were there 5 days...did 24 hour shifts. On one day we had the fire jump the fire line and it got a little too close to us and our type III engine. CDF fixed wing aircraft came right over on us and dumped 1000 gal of water. I was soaked but thankful. We were getting ready to deploy our fire shelters.

The photo is a little blurry but I am that handsome looking guy in the middle...sigh! :)

Thats a special picture. You guys put your lives on the line to protect the masses and you need each other because you just never know if it all comes to an end that day or any other day when dealing with disasters like that. Thanks for sharing....

I worked wild fire crew in 1992, during the last recession (which pails in comparison to our current economic disaster). Was a great experience, best exercise I've ever done on a consistent basis since the Marine's. Finally graduated from manually cutting fire breaks to running a dozen after my heavy equipment experience was realized. Sitting on my butt, pulling levers, in air conditioning, I was born to move dirt. My wife tells me I watched Fred Flintstone operate that dinosaur in the rock quarry for Mr. Flint way too long as a child.

Very cool Los.
Let me try to upload one of my favorite pics of Eric in action...

He is the tallest one standing on the porch, about to go in. He is my hero in so many ways!

Yeah Jen that is more my speed. Out on the east coast we don't have the big wildland fires. Structure fire is our thing. Cool pics
