Hey guys!! Has anyone used a fire hose? How does one go about buying one or getting a water meter to use? I think I bit off too much and now I think I need the fire hose. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...btw..I'm from Texas if that helps.

Fort Worth.
I have used a fire hose before, but it was rented..but if the jobs keep coming that warrant buying one then I'll do it. It is a big area job, just lots of water volume. thanks

My wife works for the State Fire Marshall's office and some of the old time fire fighters have access to some old fire hose. I was thinking of taking sections of the hose and either filling it with sand and capping the ends or cap one end and hook up to a water supply and fill it up. I would use these sections to damn off the water and contain it. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this?

1.Rental companies can sell older hoses.
2.Call your local fire dept and ask them, I've gotten some from them once.
3.Local farm supply store usually have some in their pump dept.

Tony,

You can get a hose at any pw store in your area.

You will need to rent a meter from the city of
Fw and pay a monthly fee.(for water)
I think the deposit on the meter is about
700.00 in fw with a monthly min. of 25.00.
Do not get caught getting water without a meter
from a fire plug you will get a very large ticket.

Also to Pw in Fw you must have a permit.
It will run you about 50.00 a year.
They will shut you down for the night if
you dont have one.

good luck

Also get yourself a fire plug wrench. Don't use anything else. Here in Austin you can get fined for not using the right wrench. You can get one at any plumbing supply house.

You can also go to your local Hose Mart, you know the ones that make hoses of all kinds. They can make anything you want encluding that fire hose and any length you wish.

Look in the yellow pages under Hoses.

Most fire equipment distributors can get hose. Hose is available in 50 foot lengths, 1 inch, 1 1/2 inch, 1 3/4 inch and up.Coverings include rubber ( difficult to pull, but impervious to most chemicals) , polymer impregnated, and polyester, both sigle jacket and duoble jacket. You probalbly need single jacket, FM listed but not UL listed. This has a burst pressure of 750 PSI. Some areas have different threads. 50 feet of 1 1/2 polyester W/ brass connections @ $129.95, includes shipping. 100 feet of 1 1/2 polyester w/ brass ends $195.95, includes shipping. Hose is an incidental product for us, but if we can help, call
