Well black drum over 30" have to be let go, they say they're the ones that know how to breed. I'm going back out for a "Big Red" in August.

Man I love to fish, and after this trip I've got the kids hooked also:)

My oversight Walt,I thought it was a black buffalo even tho I seen the drum print in the picture.

I've fished all my life and seen black buffalo spawn two years ago for the first time. They were spashing water 10 feet and more up on the bank,it seemed to 100's of them.We were fishing in the two man boat,we tried catching them with everything we had in the boat but nothing worked.Until Jim found two BIG grab hooks in his trackle box,we would let our line down by the boat and the line moved we'd jerk up and hook fish. When hooked I'd move the boat out to open water for a fight you wouldn't believe. Our baitcasters got a real workout with drags set as tight as we get them but at times the fish would still make the drag slip and pull the two man boat around like it was nothing to them.More then likely I'll never see them spawn again but I'll never forget the first time, its a life time remembering.

Back to the drum, those are a hard fighting fish too and tear grears out of light reels if hooked into a BIGGEN like you did.
