Flat surface cleaner problems

I am about to pull my hair out! I have a hot water unit throwing 5000psi @ 5gal/min. I screwed up and bought a 24" surface cleaner from XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX cleaning systems of Ft. Worth, with no service after the sell. AT ALL. The problems that I am having may be simple but I can not figure them out. This is a dual spray bar model. I am currently running 15025 nozzles but I have tried 15030 and 25040. The cleaner is leaving a one inch stripes on both outside edges and it is doing it no matter how slow I walk. Which brings me to my next question. I am having to almost crawl with this machine to get a half way acceptable results. I wash around 100,000 square feet of concrete a week and this slow pace has prohibited my company from taking on new accounts without building new trailers. I have read other posts and tried all fixes that were suggested. If nobody has an answer please point me in the right direction to buy a GOOD unit with some customer support. Thanks to anyone who can help.

B.

Sorry to hear of your problems.
I think we might be able to get your surface
cleaner working better. Can you post or e-mail
me a picture of it? I would be helpful to know
which model / brand it is.

If you are determined to just replace it I suggest
the Steel Eagle, they are our biggest sellers.

I would suggest a 25030 tip. Also, are you possibley over lapping your passes about an 1",often time is you are over lapping you are getting a cleaner spot where the nozzles have hit the same spot more than once.

I don't know if you tried this but here are a few simple suggestions.
1. Make sure that the angle of the connectors is correct
2. Make sure that the tips are facing the correct way
3. if all else fails go to another store and LOOK at another surface cleaner and compare the two together

try those out if you haven't already
good luck

The bar would be bent alittle.......

If the bar were bent at all, it would cause an unbelievable vibration. I know, I just had to order new bars for my steel eagle, even though there was just a "little" bend.

If it was from XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX from TExas I bought one which now sits in the garage due to them not owning up to the warranty.

I did get it from them but good news is that Steel Eagle is the actual manufacturer of the unit and Mark was able to help a great deal. My only problem now is that the stripes are still there. I thought about widening the spray patten. I am still running 15 degree spray tips. I have two units and use an employee to do the rinsing and gum removal with one of them. When he goes to remove gum the tip leaves a clean spot, as clean as the strips. Is this normal and I am being too much of a perfectionist? I am now walking at a speed I can live with but to get the concrete as clean as I would like I have to run over it twice. So where is the real benifit? I am always looking to gain more knowlege and this may sound realy green of me to ask but does anyone know where I can find some ideas on cleaning procedures? How does a guy keep from overlaping without missing, how fast should I expect to walk, do I remove gum before or after runing the surface cleaner.... that kind of stuff. I am under way to many contracts now to keep "wingin' it". Any help is greatly appreciated.

I assume the 1" stripes are stripes that are not as clean,
if that is the case overlapping your wash path should
remedy this.

Mark, if you are still viewing this?, The stripes are actualy cleaner than the rest as well as the spot where the gum is removed. Also how much slop should be in the union if any?

I use the same 24" Steel Eagle with my 3500 psi 5gpm machine. I use 3.0 tips for 3000psi. On standard concrete, not extremely rough or aggregate, I can do about 100 square feet a minute. I prespray most of my work, so I do not get those racing stripes that you describe. I also do the least amount of overlap as those inches really add up fast.
Some folks feel that hot water alone is adequate, but not if you want superior quality and efficient time, so you can get to other jobs.
For a comparison between cold and hot, they say to try washing your dishes in each and see what comes out cleaner. Well do the same with hot water and hot water with chemicals. The chem side will be cleaner and done faster than just hot water alone.

Can you you give me a brand name of a cleaner that contains these products? The supply places around me can get anything as long as I know what the mane is. I have a hard time getting them to find chemicals based on their compisition. Thanks.
