Float Tank

Has anyone ever made a float tank out of an old 15 gal cylindrical chemical jug.
I would like to mount the float tank horizontally inside of my van.
If I could get away with it, I'd rather not cut into the jug but really don't see how that would be possible as you have to get the 4-5" float inside of the 2-3" opening in the jug. If I did have to cut into the jug I had considered a piece of old inner tube as a gasket, aluminum flashing as a cover, and some sort of banding material to seal it back up.
Any suggestions? I would certainly appreciate comments on how to set this up properly. Thanks!

Why would you want to do this? Just buy a stock float tank and be done with it. I have vans an stock tanks work just fine. One of our trailer unit had a supply water problem and we were talked into a 15 gal. chem. mounted vertical. We had nothing but problems-I would use stock only-just my two cents.

I agree, just put up the money and buy a float tank. When we need extra water than what we have in our trailer we use the 55 gallon barrels in the back of a pick up and pump the water into our 150 gallon tank with a small pump. What a pain, but we don't use our water much anyway.
