OrangeCrest,

As far as the flatwork goes, it is somewhat high. Of course, if you can get it, go for it. Seems like the flatwork here in So CAl is between .01 and .015 a sq ft. With reclaim it goes up some.
Where in CA are you?

I'm in Riverside, CA... I just bought a new house here, and the Pressure Washer that did my Garage and Driveway did a crapy job. Left plaster all over the driveway, sidewalk, etc... Blood in the Garage, I can't believe he gets the jobs. One of the Walk through guys I know told me he make $100 per house; just for the Garage and Driveway. I think he could probably do a better job with a hose and sprayer. I am estimating the 2 to be 1080 sq ft; works out to be about .09 / sq ft.

Take care, and thanks for the input.

Are you sure it was a pressure washing company and not the homeowner that did the job?

Mind Emailing your phone number and Email address to me so we can meet up as I'm in Redlands.

Hey Alan,

Those are jobs you need to tell to take a hike. If window washers are making 0.14 cents / sq ft, why the heck would anyone place the wear and tear on their equipment, gas and time on that? At 0.01 per sq ft and lower, you are better off putting your stuff into the garage and either waiting out the low-ballers or getting out of the business period. There is no way I will accept anything lower than 0.20 per sq ft.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and if the customer wants a low baller and that person destoys something, good luck on getting it fixed! Now that they now spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to fix the damage; maybe then they will be glad to pay my reasonable offer next time.

Just tell them, hope they have insurance; and that your quality work will last longer than theirs. Making their price actually higher than yours.

Just a thought :D

Take care,
Robert

Hey Jon;

Yeah... These are bran-new homes. If you want work here, go to the super and offer to wash the garage and driveways for around $100. I heard that the going rate is that because there isn't enough competion. Use to be $80.

They are releasing like 12-homes at a time. That is $1,200 to do a half ass job, and I seriously doubt he even turned on his burner, and since it is fresh cement, there wasn't any chems envolved. This is a job that dreams are made out of.

Hit up the local builders, maybe that will get you somewhere. Especially if you do a better job than the idiot that did our homes here. :p

Take care,
Robert

Robert I take it your not yet in the business since you suggested I go talk to the super, right?

This would be an ideal way for you to get started in the business if your so inclined, now as to my quality of work, there would not be an issue over it and I don't waste my time bidding against those that think charging a penny or two is big money.

I m into industrial/commercial work leaving the homeowners allowing the others to have those small jobs.

Am I missing something here.. A few posts up someone says "There is no way I would accept anything lower than .20 per sq ft." Then the next post says doing the new conctruction flatwork for .09 sq ft is what dreams are made of.

Can someone help me understand.

See ya,
Rick

I do new construction homes for a local builder and get one a week sometimes two or three a week I set a price and he said for the quality of work you do it is a good price. Anyone will be hard set to find dirt or plaster or anything on these houses or the concrete. Im not saying I am perfect I am saying do a quality job get a quality price. I get 250.00 to 275.00 for my new construction homes A big one takes me 3 1/2 hrs. Most of the time Im done in 2. These houses are between 1600 and 2400 square feet ranch and two story models and mostly just have dirt or dust on them, some clay and once in a while hydraulic fluid from a leaky lift they use. No need for hot water on the concrete or chems it is only a week old when I get the call almost any stains wash right off.
