Getting past in-house maintenance!

Guys I have been seriously pounding on some doors here and have been getting QUITE aggravated! What I've been doing is driving around locating dirty buildings and stopping and asking to clean them. All Ive been hearing lately 7 out of 10 times is " we have our own guy that does all the stores". What I want to ask is " Well where in the hell has he been ? He sure has'nt been here cleaning your store!"But I bite my tongue and go about my merry way. Just today a Wal-Mart supercenter told me they have a guy that is an employee that cleans their storefront with his 1 8 0 0 psi washer and gets up all the gum! Guys Im frustrated and would like some ammo to convince them to use me. What should I do?

We have the same problem. Yes, it make me mad too. Usually I just ask if they would mind if I left a brochure explaining the process we use and offer a free demo as to how well we could clean it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We just have to keep trying. If they tell me that they have 25 stores and only one man doing all the maintance, i usually just say that I understand and sometimes cleaning up the bubble gum is not the most important thing their maintance guy may have had going and if they would like to just take a brochure and think about it. I have managed to get a lot of jobs lately by leaving it anyway.

Give it a try. It just might work.

Good luck and let us know what works for you.

TextDo a demo. You might try talking to the maintenance guy that does the cleaning. I was told them same thing just the other day. Then as I left the "guy that did the cleaning" saw the rig and started talking to me. I told him the response and he was mad. Turns out he HATES doing the cleaning. So he is now showing the boss they can sell thier piece of crap cold water cleaner and free him up to do the important stuff. Blah Blah and so on. The other thing he/we have pointed out is that the labor market is so tight and they cannot keep people so this will help off set that. I have done a demo and given a quote which they did not have a problem with so far. Bottom line is try and find the mystery maint man and see if he is intrested. Let him do the sales job.

A old salesmen story-"The more calls you make the more sales you make-it's just numbers. I would demo or run a VHS tape and show your worth.
