Granite Steps

How are all you guys doing. I'm a new kid on the block in this forum.I'm based in Ireland and have been specialising in stables and racecourses doing pressure cleaning and disinfection (using fogging) as well as all the other pressure cleaning applications.

I have a job which requires cleaning granite steps,I usually use acid but these are relatively smooth and I'm afraid the acid may "pit" the granite. So any of you guys have any suggestions?

Hi Matt,
I seem to get these kind of jobs occasionally, can I suggest a great website that can help you, cos if you ain`t no geolgist you will need to identify the granite and the best way to clean it. I gleaned some stuff from findstone.com and did a good job with a 40 degree nozzle which the customer was chuffed to bits with(got a 10 year old scotch for Xmas!) but be careful as what appears to be granite on the footfall is something cheap and nasty on the underside, a little trick one of my former employers
used, which might cause a problem !
Good luck Kevin, Aquatechnique

Welcome overseas friends.

Would like to see some pictures of how you guys are set up, the stuff you clean etc.

Anyone ever clean a castle?

Any of the other 1800s buildings?

Hello Jon

Thanks for your welcome. In regards to Castles I've cleaned none yet, but I did do the cobblelock driveway at Trim Castle after they shot scenes for the movie "Braveheart".

I do quite a few old buildings in Dublin City, mostly old pubs granite fronts . One of them was built in 1794.

I'll post a couple of pictures shortly to show you how we set up in Ireland.

cheers
Matt
