Gravity feed?

Hi, I have a bulldozer business and from time to time i need to wash my bulldozer out in the field. I currently have a Nortstar pressure washer (model number MBDPWF). It is a belt driven unit with a honda 13hspw. engine. it has a General TS1511 pump on it. it is rated at 4gpm and 3000psi. My tank is a 500 gallon poly tank.

My question is this: Will this unit operate from a gravity fed tank?

If not, what do i need to do to make it work from a gravity fed tank? ie. what size of hose from tank to pump? what kind of water filter? Do i need to purchase a small DC pump to pump water from tank to pressure washer? ect.

Ive seen similiar set ups that you can rent at united rentals ect. and i think they just have a hose from the tank to the pump with no pressure........will that work for me.

Please explain in detail the things i will need to do because im not real familiar with lingo from you professionals. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Same set up

I had the same question when I started, the power washer manufacturer said not to do it, I kept on searching, the company I buy my chems. from also sale and repair machines. It can be done, be sure to use 3/4 braided hose so it dosn't collapse and a clear canister type filter in between the tank and pump, to prime, unscrew the canister just enough to prime water to your gun, also be sure the tank outlet is close to level to the inlet of your pump to insure full gravity, keep hose as short as possible.

Godsdozer,
It will work depending on how far the tank is from the P/W. I have about 6 foot of 2 inch line then reduced to 3/4 inch about a foot before the pump.
