Gum stains on concrete/restaurant vents

Our 3500 psi/steam cleaner removes all old gum from our customers' sidewalks and driveups, but many times we leave gum stains behind. If you try to remove the stains, we end up etching the concrete. We have tried a few degreasers, but have had no luck.

One friend recommended using a chemical called, Bleach White, a jelled bleach cleaner, but am nervous trying it without someone with experience using it.

Any suggestions?

Also: Has anyone had experience cleaning restaurant vents? Many potential customers have requested this service, but I am totally inexperienced with this and I have learned from experience that my ignorance has always cost me money and time.

Thanks,

Scott

I would not worry about the gum shadows left behind. They will fad over time from UV and from routine cleaning. Problem is somebody neglects the concrete for a very long time and then when it is finally cleaned, the gum shadows remain and make a great job look bad.
Explain to the customer that on neglected concrete gum will leave shadows, and that they will fade rather quickly over time, and even faster with repeated cleanings on a regular basis. I have not found one person is 6 years that had a problem with that.

As far as hood cleaning, you would do well to find a company close enough to travel to, but not close enough to be competition and do some on the job training. You work for free to gain experience. It is usually found during this time that you will either love or hate the work. You are right that ignorance would cost you plenty on this one.
