Without hot water, the only way I have found is to get on your hands and knees with a scraper. Makes for a very long day! Good luck!

When I first started out we would use freon to freeze the gum then pop the gum off with a scraper. Hot water is the best/only way to go.

gum removal

been there done that, use a 15 or 25 degree nozzle, but you need to hit it at a sharp angle. if you hit it from the top you will drive it deeper into the concrete. you need to get under it and peel it up. but hot water is best.

Several years ago I tried using our waterblaster to clean sidewalks and remove gum instead of using our Hot water equipment. This machine is rated at 10,000 psi @ 10 gpm.

In the game of golf they call it a "Divot" when you pull up some of the grass during a shot. That’s what happens when you use too much pressure on gum removal from concrete.

We never used the blaster again for this. Since then we only use hot water (200 degrees or so) @ 3000 psi, 8-10 gpm does great and no damage to the finish.

Here are some pictures of our blaster.

3000 psi with a 15 degree yellow tip and HOT WATER is the best method..If you have a cold water Powerwasher and don't have the funds to by a hot water machine at this time then you could look into a Hot Box or a used Hot water PW.....You must have Hot water for these type jobs or your just wasting your time...and time=$$$$...business 101
