Anyone know of a way to neutralize cat box odors in a basement,The woman has the house for sale and called me to pressure wash the basement floor to remove the odor but the basement has no outside entrance. I hope someone can tell me what she can use herself to remove or neutralize this odor.

Thanks Daren

The wife has one of those "home remedy" books. It says:

"Listerine or douching solution will remove the smell of urine......."

Also says you can make a potent odor-removing mixture by combining two tablespoons of citronella oil (from a drug store) plus 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol in a gallon of mop water.

It also recommends using "activated charcoal"......from hardware store.

I hope this helps......

As far as washing goes, you would need vac/reclaim equipment to do that job. I always refer this type of work to a local fire restoration company.....they have the equipment to do it right.

Daren,

Look into renting an OZONE machine. Completly eliminates any odor and they rent fairly cheap...

Alot of fire restoration companies use these to remove smoke odor and some department stores and grocery stores use them to eliminate odors.

the biggest market for these are used car dealers. Put one inside a car that has been smoked in for 10 years and you will never know a cig has been lit.

Hope this helps,

Ethan
