Hello everyone,
I am new to PWN and new to the pressure washing Business. I have been doing it for a couple a years now and decided to get serious about it. I just invested in a new Hot Water cleaner, 4000 psi, 4gpm, 20" Surface scrubber, telescoping wands, etc. I have general liabilty 1million across the board. I am getting my exemption from state( FL ) for workmans comp.(Its just my self and my Wife.) If any one could give some advice on how to get some steady business coming through or just some handy tips, espeacially about Roof Cleaning, being 300 lbs I dont like hieghts. My wife and I would appreciate any help you guys might have.

Thanks,
Chris

There's tons of information on this forum, as well as elsewhere. Here is a good place to start. These guys know their stuff.
Use the search bar at the top of the page, and read, read, read.
Odds are, you'll learn just about everything you need to know. Search on key words according to subject matter. i.e., bidding, equipment, chemical, etc.
Good luck, and welocme to PWN!

OK Here goes

Im 22 yrs old. When was 18 I started out with a small pressure washer, just detailing cars and washing small sidewalks and maybe some windows. I have been in school and was cleaning on the side. I ran into a guy who asked me to do a big job, cleaning at a local hospital were I washed cars. I didnt want to turn down this job, and lose out on big time money. So I studied up on different ways to clean you know hot / cold, hew to price and what not. I got the job and have not landed much else. Now I have upgraded with the mindset to get more work and build a real company to support my family. I really dont have alot of the business knowlege and experience. I know they guys in town who are bangin in the big bucks had to start somewhere and nows my turn to start. Im not just another guy claiming to be a pressure cleaner, this is my life and my family is counting on me to build something for our future. I just want to learn the right ways and offer a great service to my community. hope that clears it up for you. I again appreciate any advice anyone might have.

respectfully,

Chris

Yes,it helped clear a few things.

Other then detailing, small walkways and windows I take it you have not really tried for another big job.

(I ran into a guy who asked me to do a big job,So I studied up on different ways to clean,I got the job and have not landed much else)

Word of mouth goes a long ways in this trade, you didn't state what type big job it was and the ways you cleaned it.

Just getting out of school and having already been in business for two years for extra money you already know how to get business,by asking.I do not see where you have a problem in getting business, you have the knowledge and know how in getting business. All you need to do is to put it to use by asking for the jobs, you already stated your interested in roof cleaning is there any other trade your interested in?Roof cleaning in some cases can be done from the ground, bucket truck and ladders depending on what part of the roof cleaning trade your interested in.

At that hospital I did all their Entrance ways and sidewalks. I did it all by wand and with a cold water cleaner. I used bleach to help lift dirt, and after I cleaned it, I covered the area again with bleach, I was told that that work kinda like a final sealant. Working at night and with my schedule it took me about 1 week. I busted my tail on that job, but I never made $3,000 in one week before. With my new equiptment I can do the same job in maybe 2 nights.

Thanks Again,

Chris

I was going to post a couple pictures of 8 and 9# walleye I caught friday but had them dressed for the frying pan before I realized I didn't take no pic's.After seeing your catch I'm glad I didn't take any pictures of my little fishes,anyway..

The job you did was at a place where everybody could see your work and knowhow meaning alot of people seen a just another bleach head user..word of month. They make other chemicals that will make bleach look like a little boy getting off the potty without no paper to wipe has hindend.Word of month in this trade can be a killer or like catch and release, you didn't read far enought as to how to clean or you took the cheaper way.I'm not saying bleach didn't have a place in some of the cleaning in the job,I wish you will in this trade and the sport of fishing.
