Hello,
Great forum, very interesting thanks for being here, as I can’t find anything in the UK that is this helpful.
I don’t think we brits even have jet power wash people like you lot !!, not many wooden houses over here and they prefer to leave the roads dirty.

First of all I’d like to say hello from the Isle of Man , yer that little bit between England and Ireland, I think one of your former “deputy†presidents grand fathers came from here.

What am I doing – well I have just started jet washing driveways (20 –40 m2), paths and patios over here, yer small time stuff, but I have a day job as well and just do this for pocket money.

I have a Karcher washer, medium price one sold through garden centres, but it does the job, if I can get 8 months out of it I will be well happy, as it should just about pay for it’s self within a month !

I am thinking of getting a larger unit, I would love one of these:

Model# PE-3513HWBSCAT
Rated 4 GPM @ 3500 PSI
13 HP Honda GX series engine.
Cat model 5CP3120 pump
$1199.00*

As advertised through your site, but I think shipment would be to much !
So I’m looking at something like a 9 HP honda GX engine at 3 GPM@2500 psi

My question is would this be sufficient to use in car parks, high street and petrol station.
As I’m not sure if it would remove chewing gum or oil ?

Or is steam required or a good solvent ??

I would also consider getting a surface cleaner as my back is already hurting after doing 180 m2 in 6 hrs !! with a short wand.

Ta for all the help, if you prefer I can be contacted in confidence at jim_buchan@yahoo.com

Hey there James. Welcome to the great world of the BB .. You can use that 3500 psi unit (cold) to remove gum Heat works better but cold can do it as well. I would scrape as much as I can with a putty knife and then use your p/wer . As far as a surface cleaner goes. If you are planing on doing alot of drive-thrus I would invest in one as soon as you can . You cant beat 'em .

Dont forget >> and im not sure what the rules are in the UK but you are going to have to re-claim if you are going to do service stations. At least make an attempt.

Thanks for logging on this BB and hope to see ya around !

take care....................

James,

Welcome to www.PowerWashNetwork.com

The higher GPM (IE: 4 to 6 GPM) would clean much
faster, also hot water is better yet.

Most of my Contract Cleaner customers doing surface
cleaning are running 5 to 8 GPM and pressures up to 3500
PSI, with temperatures ranging from 170 to 210 degress Farenheit.

A smaller cold water unit may do the job but it will require
more time, effort, and chemicals.
