First question first is what kind of burner, 12 volt or 120 volt, vertical or horizonal, brand and how do you have it vented.
Other than the black soot are there any other issues?

If the soot is blocking the air flow of the burner your best solution is to pull the coil and wash it then re-insulate and reinstall it. This will help with the airflow but may not be the cause of the problem. Make sure your fuel filter is clean and you are operating at the correct fuel pressure for your burner so you have proper atomization. Also make sure your air bands are adjusted properly for the cleanest burn.

I have A hotsy pressure washer with a Carlin burner the type is a 12v constant duty and it vertical, vents out the top with the stack. I really dont know to much about the bruner part of my pressure washer, so any info is helpful. or do you know of any books or manunals out there. thanks!

Waterboy,

Carlin is the brand of the ignitor used
on your burner, the brand of the burnercould
be either a Beckett or Wayne.

I believe Hotsy is now using the Beckett.

With a make model & serial # of your pressure
washer, it would be easier to locate manuals.:)

Make: = Hotsy
Model#_________ ?
Serial#_________?
