It depends on what you believe in. Here's a fact for ya. A few years back there was a guy I know who's wife was seen by a priest. She is bleeding in weird places such as from her eyes and her behavior is off the charts. The priest determines that there needs to be an exorcism. This is about 10 yrs ago. I'm telling Kathy about this and that I am going to go to see what this is all about. Kathy was brought up thru the Catholic school system. Meanwhile where having this discussion I have a guy in the Kitchen wall papering.

In me telling this to Kathy, she's telling me I am crazy to go to this and that I should stay away. So where debating and what happens... The wallpaper guy now says to me "Good God man what is wrong with you" If I was one to fly off the handle I would have told this guy to take a hike even though he is much bigger then me. So I said OK say what you have to say.
This guy who is deeply religious(Which I had know clue) says to me that if I go to this exorcism and I'm not supposed to be there the devil can be brought out of this lady and it can now go right into me and at that point there is no way to get him out of me because I'm not supposed to be there in the first place. So I tell him "Yea well I'll guess I'll find out cause I think its nonsense". Kathy tells me to back off. The guy finishes the wall paper and to this day I still call him when he's available to do stuff and he does..so where good.

As far as the exorcism goes I could have went but the guy who was going to get me in there is freaked and he wouldn't go. The end result the girl clears up and all sides are happy.

Probably a good thing I didn't go and on my "Other job" I've taken people to the psych ward who thought they were Jesus Christ etc. I think the mind can make people crazy. But are there Demons??? Thats what I wanted to see but probably best I didn't go. So maybe there is..............I can't say for sure.

Well, I believe in the Bible, and in the Bible Jesus and the apostles cast out a number of demons, so yes. I believe that demons can possess people. Do I think it's like the exorcist? No. And I think it's probably more common in places where demons are worshipped, such as those who practice voo doo.

However, there's a passage in Mark about a little boy who was possessed by a demon. The boy could not speak and he threw himself into the fire (i.e., seizures). The disciples were unable to cast the demon out, so Jesus had to step in and do it. When the disciples asked Christ why they couldn't do it, he said that kind of demon could only come out with prayer. It struck me, as the mother of a son with autism (which is often accompanied by seizures, although Ethan has never had one) that I really needed to be praying for my son. Not that I believe he is possessed by a demon, but the passage still struck home.

Finally, there's the AWESOME story in Acts 19 where the seven apostle-wannabes went out and tried to cast out the demons from some guy. The demon replied, "'Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?'”Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding." (I love that part!) So yeah, I'd suggest staying away from an exorcism!

I hate to disagree with some of you, but it has nothing to do with what you believe. Either people do, or they don't. Bible says they do, so ... they do.

With that said, I don't believe that Christians need to see demons around every corner. There are some TV preachers that have really screwed people up with this kind of stuff, but I think I pretty much subscribe to what Allison subscribes to.

Interesting discussion....

As a footnote, thanks to the person that called me after they read this thread to see if everything's okay in Los's household...I appreciate it.

Just thought this would be an interesting topic vs. the usual "Does Citrus-Be-Gone Really Have a Citrus Smell?" :)

Have to disagree with you here my man Ant. People do not have to believe in Demons and if they don't believe in the bible that get a double winner. For one they can't go to hell unless they believe in the bible so what that says is basically if your a bad christian down the hot hole you go. Or if your just a bad person doesn't believe in any God related Topics such as an athiest then they can't go to hell. My guess is that an atheist doesn't buy into any of the religous talk and its there right in this country.

So you may not agree with this but people have many choices in this country and if they choose to not believe in the bible and they also don't believe in Demons I'm sure they don't loosse any sleep over it. Pergitory now there's another wild story.

For the record I am Roman Catholic and I believe in God but I don't believe in some of the tales passed down by man cause many will screw it up every time. So Some of the Bible I believe in and the rest...I just don't have blind faith and I just have to believe that since I am a good person God will take me one day to the promise land....and I go lie free[r2]
