HOME SHOWS

#1
Hello out there fellow power(or pressure) washers. Does anybody have any experience with doing Home Shows? There is one coming up in our area and I have given a lot of thought about trying it. Talked with sales person who said (can you believe it) "Oh you will be surprized how much business you'll get from the show. She went on to say that another company that does decks generated lots of new business. Then she told me the price was $800 for a 10x10 space and this is the only size that they have. I'm hesitant to spend that kind of money on an unfamiliar form of advertizing, but on the other hand there should be a good turn out (has been in years past). The organizer puts it on in conjunction with biggest event of the year for a local university and it is in one of the university's large building. Also keep in mind I haven't made my first million in the business (ha ha). Anybody out there with any experience please respond. Would like any advice on how to be better at it than the competition. Also if anybody has any of their forms, brochures, mailings they would like to share that also would be greatly appreciated !!
Thanks in advance for your help,
Tucker

P.S. Hope the rest of you guys (and dolls) like this new bb as much as I do. Hats off to you Mr.Webmaster!!

Hi, Tucker
In my "other" job, which is manufacturing, we've found that trade shows don't usually pay for themselves in direct sales or leads, but are sometimes valuable for contacts and to build a reputation in the industry. Its also good to go and "rub elbows" as much as possible. $800 would be too steep for MY advertising budget, but LOL! Hope some of the "Old Dogs" on the board can give you more input specific to the contract cleaning industry.

Fixing to do our first Home Show in April. Been taking a lot of video of flat washing of driveways and walkways, also of mold and mildew removal from brick and siding. Have 3 decks to do this coming week and going to video that also. Then i am going to edit the video to about an hour and retape for continuous play. Hoping the video will serve as an attention getter at the show. Should have it all ready in a couple of weeks. If anyone would like a copy to use at a show, i can make some extra's. Give me an email and i will make a copy.
